Ushahidi
Ushahidi is the Kenyan non-profit tech company that started crowdmap, in an attempt to report violence in Kenya after the 2008 elections.
As an open-source project, it allows users all over the world to use the platform and adapt it to their local needs.
Since the Kenyan elections, Ushahidi and its crowmap tool have been used in:
- DRCongo, to monitor unrest
- Gaza, to track violence
- India, to monitor the elections
- Globally, to report on the progress of the Swine Flu.
