These hauntingly striking portraits are the work of fashion Photographer Eric Nehr. They chronicle his journey mainly through Cameroon and Panama, capturing the women, men and children with Albinism.

This body of work began after he read the following -

“… Since September, the albinos in Burundi have been the victims of a dreadful, sordid, mad hunt. Five murders, all of them quite appalling, have been committed. Albinos, whether men, women, boys or girls, have become, in spite of themselves, the targets of a very lucrative market….” -  Pierre Lepidi, Le Monde.fr, December, 22nd 2008.

He used the photographs, and the presentation of the subsequent exhibition ‘rose blesse’ in 2011, to disturb the viewers perception of Albino people. He wanted the images to totally embody the fragility of not only the people he photographed, but also the fragility of their place in societies across the world. The pictorial quality of his images are question the onlooker’s sense of reality.
